| Muscat, Wahiba Sands | |||
| For those who have a bit more time to explore Oman, this program offers a more thorough introduction to the country. Start with a visit to the Grand Mosque, the most elaborate house of worship in the country. The next day, cruise the Gulf of Oman on a dolphin-watching trip: though we cannot guarantee that dolphins will be spotted, it is likely that you will see them. In the afternoon, take an introductory tour of Muscat, visiting the Bait Al Zubair Museum, the Muttrah Souq, and several other notable attractions. On the third day, head out for a full day trip to Nizwa, where you will tour the famous circular fort and the nearby Jabrin Castle. The next day, pack an overnight bag and set out for the Wahiba Sands, a vast desert of dunes and sand, with visits to a fishing village, the Bimah sinkhole, and the Mausoleum of Bibi Miriam along the way. Overnight in a tented camp to get a sense of the Bedouin lifestyle - though your tent is significantly more comfortable than a traditional one! The next morning, visit with a Bedouin family in their home and then see the deep blue water of the Wadi Bani Khalid before heading back to Muscat for your final night. | |||
