This unique program allows adventurers to experience a broad spectrum of Morocco’s diverse cultural and natural landscape. Arrive in Casablanca and visit the awe inspiring King Hassan Mosque II before traveling to Fes for three nights. Fes is a city of mystery, with shadowy lanes and artisans’ quarters where woodcarving, ironmongery, and silver-smithing are practiced according to traditional methods. From Fes, drive over the Mid-Atlas Mountains to Erfoud. From here you will explore Rissani, one of the great stops on the Saharan caravan routes, and Merzouga, where pink flamingos descend on the village in springtime. Overnight in a Berber tent surrounded by the dramatic sand dunes of the Ergg Chebi and then continue by road to Skoura, visiting the Todra Gorge en route. After two nights exploring the “Land of 1000 Kasbahs,” continue to Marrakech. Spend three nights exploring beautifully restored riads, souks, and Djemaa El Fna, alive with fire-eaters, dancers and musicians. Then, escape the city for the fresh mountain air of the High Atlas Mountains. Enjoy two days at the Kasbah Toubkal, where 360-degree views of the snowcapped High Atlas await, before concluding the trip in the coastal town of Essaouira. Essaouira is also the center of Morocco’s thuya industry: this high quality woodcarving and inlay work is carried out in a maze of workshops along the seafront. Spend a night enjoying the sea breeze before departing. |
