| This comprehensive program includes the popular northern cities and the more remote southern countryside, an area many visitors never see. Start with introductory touring in Luang Prabang and then Vientiane before flying to Pakse, the gateway to southern Laos. Explore the archaeological splendors of Wat Phu, the premier Khmer site in Laos, and then travel to Khong Island, famed for its wildlife and natural beauty, for one night. Continue on to Saravan, a town that was devastated by the war but has been carefully reconstructed and now serves as a major trading hub. Take a riverboat from Ban Phom through the stunning Attapu Valley; the river cuts between the Annamite Mountains and the Boloven Plateau, an area of thundering waterfalls and verdant valleys. Conclude your trip with a visit to Pakse, the center for much of the country’s agriculture, where you will visit tribal villages, waterfalls, and a coffee plantation. Your journey ends with a transfer to Ubon Airport, where you can catch your departure flight. | |||
