| A truly comprehensive overview of Ladakh, this trip features the classic Markha Valley trek and is perfect for those who would like an in-depth experience in this fascinating region. After two nights in Delhi with some city touring, fly to Leh and begin exploration of the Shankar, Hemis, and Thiksey monasteries. Drive overland to Lamayuru to visit the picturesque monastery and continue on to Uleytopko for an overnight in a fixed tented camp; the following day, visit Ridzong Monastery to take tea with the resident teachers and then see the Alchi temple complex. Return to Leh and transfer to Spituk, where you depart on the trekking portion of the trip - an overland journey that will take you to numerous small villages and monasteries, and allows you ample time to absorb the magnificent Himalayan landscape. Walking time each day is between four to eight hours at a comfortable pace, with frequent breaks for rest and refreshment. After ten days of trekking, conclude the trip back where you began, in Leh. Return to Delhi for two nights of flexible private touring before catching your international departure flight. | |||
